In an era where technology and accessibility are reshaping the educational landscape, Open Educational Resources (OERs) have emerged as a powerful tool for enhancing student learning and success. This comprehensive slide deck offers a step-by-step guide to writing a research synopsis or proposal centered on the "Impact of OERs on Students." It’s designed for those who wish to explore how OERs are transforming education by making high-quality resources accessible to all, regardless of economic background.
This presentation delves into the critical components of a strong research proposal, guiding you through the process of defining a research problem that resonates with today’s educational challenges. You'll learn how to craft a clear and focused research question, conduct a literature review that reflects the latest developments in OERs, and develop a methodology that is both innovative and practical.
The relevance of this topic is more significant than ever in contemporary education. As students increasingly rely on digital resources for learning, understanding the impact of OERs on their academic performance, engagement, and overall educational experience is crucial. This slide deck will help you articulate the importance of studying OERs, ensuring your research proposal is aligned with current trends and addresses pressing issues such as digital equity, resource accessibility, and personalized learning.
Whether you are a student, researcher, or academic professional, this presentation will equip you with the tools and knowledge needed to create a research proposal that is not only methodologically sound but also highly relevant in today's dynamic educational environment. By focusing on the transformative potential of OERs, your research can contribute to the ongoing dialogue about how to best support and enhance student learning in the digital age.

UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK Open educational resources ( OER ) are teaching , learning, and research materials intentionally created and licensed to be free for the end user to own, share, and in most cases, modify. The term "OER" describes publicly accessible materials and resources for any user to use, re-mix, improve, and redistribute under some licenses. These are designed to reduce accessibility barriers by implementing best practices in teaching and to be adapted for local unique contexts. Introducing OERs Source: Wikipedia/ UNESCO Global OERs logo
Rationale of study UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, 7 in 10 students didn’t purchase a textbook because it was too expensive. One in five college students has skipped or deferred a class due to the price of the required learning resources. The cost of textbooks is rising at a rate of 4 times inflation 60% of students have delayed purchasing textbooks until they’ve received their financial aid. OERs give faculty the ability to customize course materials, creating the “perfect” course packet or textbook instead of being bound to a traditional one-size-fits-all model. Customization gives faculty control over the quality of their course materials as well as the type and timing of updates to textbooks and other resources .
Review of related literature UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK 2022 Manju OERs- its utilization and impact on evaluation study of central universities in Delhi This study revealed that only2% faculties were not aware of OERs, 24.2% were not aware of CC, 34.2% of faculties were not aware how to develop and use OER, but 24% to 32% of the faculties were very well aware. There was no significant difference between the gender towards awareness of OER and teaching experience towards of OERs 2018 Lolvard et al., The impact of educational resources on students success metrics a new opportunity appears to be present for institutions in higher education to consider how to leverage OERs to address completion, quality and affordability challenges, especially those institutions that have higher percentages of eligible, undeserved and part time students than the institution presented in this study. 2018 Muslim, D. et al., comparative study of the usage of open educational resources in e-Learning universities and conventional universities of Pakistan They found that e-Learning universities teachers have export technology skill and they used digital and OER resources. And Conventional universities teachers have little more skill in use of OERS. 2017 Santosh , S. policy status and use of open education resources in distance education institution in India The study revealed that the respondent had a good ICT skill, the ICT skills of learners were found to be good across both gender, different age groups, learning groups, and in different program levels. Majority of learners below 35 years of age in Bachelor’s and Master’s programme indicated very good to good ICT skills. Year Authors Name Topic Name Findings
Objectives & Hypothesis The objectives of the study are follows: Hypothesis of the study There will be a favorable positive impact of OERs on students. OERs are easily accessible and better provision to facilitate awareness among students.
Design of the study UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK To fulfill the research objectives the investigator will select undergraduate student’s final degree students and faculty members of Arts stream as population . Population is any group of individual is that has one or more characteristics in common and that are of interest to the researcher ( Best J.W. et al.,2017 ). To achieve the entire research objective, the investigator will select 11 departments of Arts stream of UNAC, as area of population, and among various departments investigators will select 300 undergraduate final degree students and 60 faculty members from mentioned 11 departments as population of study (S N - 300, F N -60). POPULATION
UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK Population of the study SAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUES A sample is a small proportion of the population that is select for observation and analysis ( Best . J. W. et al., 2017 ). Among the population of study the investigator will select 10 students of each department as sample, (100n samples) by using lottery method of simple random sampling techniques of probability sampling, as well for faculty survey 2 faculties from each department will select by using lottery method of simple random sampling techniques of probability sampling total 20 faculties (Fn-20n) as sample for fulfil the research objectives of the study.
UDAYANTH (AUTO.) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ADASPUR, CUTTACK Tools and Techniques for data collection On the requirement of the present study the investigator will follow quantitative approach descriptive survey method, as per methodology the investigator will use developed standardize questionnaire tools and prepared structured meeting room for data collection for both students and faculty survey.
