Allied Fibres, Barrackpore, West Bengal
Jute Agricultural Research Laboratory (JARL)
was established in 1938 at Dhaka. After
partition of the country, Jute Agricultural
Research Laboratory shifted to Chinsura in
West Bengal and then, Nilganj, Barrackpore in
1953 as Jute Agricultural Research Institute
(JARI). JARI was taken over by ICAR in
1966. In January 1990, the institute has been
rechristened to Central Research Institute for
Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF).
