What is Ideology Ideology is the combination of two Greek word, “ Ideo ” means “Ideas” and “Logos” means, “Science”. Thus ideology means, “Science of Ideas” Ideology is a set of beliefs, ideas and values which directs one’s goals. Every body has a specific aim of life. To achieve the aim, a set of ideas provide guidance. Similarly, in collective life of a group or nation, people struggle collectively in the light of common thinking. That collective thinking is called ideology of the Nation.

Kinds of Ideology Ideology is of THREE kinds Religious Ideology, which deals to establish a social and living system in the light of basic principles of a religion. 2. Political Ideology, which deals to establish a specific political system for the followers of that ideology, according to their thinking. 3. Economic Ideology, which deals to solve the financial problems of the nation. E.g. capatilist economy or communist economy.

Significance of Ideology Every nations has specific goals. To achieve national goals, there is need of ideology that leads the people of the nation in right directions. To achieve the settled goals, ideology proves helpful in the following ways: Ideology persuades a nation towards purposeful life. 2. Ideology keeps people of a society united. 3. Ideological nations face no problem in legislation because basic principles already exist in form of Ideology. 4. Ideology plays vital role in national identity. It discriminate a nation from others.

How Does Ideology emerge? “An ideology emerges when people feel strongly that are being mistreated under an existing order , when their status is threatened by fundamental changes occurring in the society , and when the prevailing ideology no longer satisfies them” EXAMPLE of a Seed

Ideology of Pakistan: Every movement has an ideology behind it. Ideology of Pakistan is Ideology of Islam. On the base of which Muslim of Sub-continent struggled for a separate homeland. Or… Ideology of Pakistan is to mould our individual and collective lives according to the teachings of Islam and to safeguard ourselves against all those ideologies that are against Islam.

However when they realized that their future in a „Democratic India‟ dominated by Hindu majority was not safe, they changed their demand to a separate state.

Elements of Ideology of Pakistan Following are the elements of Ideology of Pakistan: 1. Kalma-i-Tauheed : Tauheed means Allah is one who alone is Creator and Lord of every thing. The base of Ideology of Pakistan is Tauheed (one creed). According to Jinnah; “Pakistan came into being the day, the first Hindu embraced Islam in India”. Brotherhood: Islamic society is based on brotherhood, promotes feelings of affection and mutual selfless cooperation. To establish such a society, the Muslim of India started Struggle for separate homeland.

Cont… 3. Islamic System of Life: Islam is not a religion rather it is a complete code of life which brings the solution of social, political and economic needs of human beings. The aim of creation of Pakistan was the permanent solution of the problems of Muslims. 4. Islamic Concept of Sovereignty: according to Islam Allah is the creator and Sovereign of universe. Muslims of the Sub-continent wanted such an Islamic state where they can exercise the powers granted by Allah as a sacred trust.
