IGNEOUS ROCK

IGNEOUS ROCK -   derived from the  Latin  word  ignis  meaning fire, or magmatic rock, is one of the three main rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic . - formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava

Two Types of Igneous Rock Intrusive Igneous Rock - formed from the slow cooling of magma below Earth’s crust - recognize by their coarse-grained minerals Examples of intrusive igneous rocks include granites, dikes, sills, etc .    - also known as plutonic rock .

- known as volcanic rock, is formed by the cooling of molten magma on the earth's surface. Extrusive Igneous R ock - The magma, which is brought to the surface through fissures or volcanic eruptions, rapidly solidifies. Hence such rocks are fine-grained ( aphanitic ) or even glassy. . - Basalt is the most common extrusive igneous rock and forms lava flows, lava sheets and lava plateaus.

Robot on the Job

ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) is a   humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000 . ASIMO   It is displayed in the  Miraikan  museum in Tokyo, Japan A robot that can make its own decision. It stands about 30cm and weighs 48 kg

ROBOVOLC A robot vehicle designed and builtn through the partnership of universities, industrial organizations, and research organizations. A new robotic system that has been designed to help scientists in the exploration of volcanoes

T hree subsystems of ROBOVOLC -a rover platform  with six articulated and independently actuated wheels   - a manipulator arm  to collect rock samples, drop and pick up sensors and sample gas -a pan‐tilt turret  with a high resolution camera, video‐camera, infrared camera and a doppler radar for gas speed measurement

SPHERO 2.0 A robotic toy, about the size of a baseball, created by robotics and software engineers Ian Bernstein and Adam wilson and ther Orbotix team. Can not be overturned Rolls at speed of 7.7km/ hr
