Economic point of view 1.

Floriculture is a fast emerging markets in the world, especially as a potential money-spinner for many countries in world . Many flowers and ornamental plants are being grown for domestic as well as for export market will provide more return/unit area than any other agricultural/horticultural crops. For example in markets such as Delhi and Mumbai and other metros a single spike of gladiolus and gerbera cutflower may sell upto Rs. 3-5 in Kharif and Rs. 5-10/spike in Rabi/Summer 5

Gestation period of flower crop is very less compared to other crops. The sale of loose flowers of Jasmine, Crossandra , Marigold, China Aster, Chrysanthemums, Berlaria and Gaillardia etc., are a roaring business in south India. 6

- Floriculture products posses 25 -30 times more foreign exchange earning ability than cereals. - The rules and regulations related to import and export have been minimized. - Floriculture is capable of attending and retaining a large number farmers. - Government of India setting up infrastructure for Floriculture industry.
