1. INTRODUCTION
In the data communications world, data generally are defined as
information that is stored in digital form. The word data is plural; a
single unit of data is a datum.
Data communications is the process of transferring digital
information (usually in binary form) between two or more points.
Information is defined as knowledge or intelligence. Information
that has been processed, organized, and stored is called data.
