2. In India, Independence Day is celebrated by the people of all religions, cultures and traditions with great joy and happiness. Independence Day in India is observed on 15 th  of August every year from 1947 as our country became independent on the same day from the power of British rule almost after 200 years of slavery.

A big celebration event is organized by the government of India at the Rajpath , India Gate in the National Capital, New Delhi where people of all religion, culture and tradition gather to listen the patriotic speech of our Prime Minister. By celebrating this event we commemorate those all great people who had sacrificed their lives and loved ones in making India an Independent country.

7. Science day in Switzerland is dedicated to Ex-Indian President, APJ Abdul Kalam The father of India's missile programme had visited Switzerland back in 2006. Upon his arrival, Switzerland declared May 26th as Science Day.

9. The human calculator Shakuntla Devi was given this title after she demonstrated the calculation of two 13 digit numbers which were picked at random. She answered correctly within 28 seconds.

13. Soldiers of the Indian Army are considered among the best in jungle warfare. The Counter-insurgency and Jungle Warfare School is often visited by forces from the US, the UK, and Russia among others. The Siachen Glacier, 5000 metres above sea level, is the highest battlefield in the world. And the Indian Army controls it.  The Indian Army is the biggest voluntary army in the world. To think that we have the maximum number of willing soldiers in the world is a matter of great pride

14. B asic problems our country is facing today Poverty and inequality : There is a vast inequality amongst people, ( about 32% of our population is still under poverty line). Corruption : Again, lack of empathy, bad governance, causes corruption. Corruption is further reinforced due to poverty and inequality. Scaling up our systems (educational, infrastructure etc.) : We have a huge population, we really to need to scale up our systems (like housing, sewage, electricity, education, transport etc.) to a much better quality and quantity than there exists at the moment . Bureaucracy: Indian bureaucrats are perceived to be one of the most arrogant, corrupt and inefficient in the world. 

15. So on this independence day lets take a pledge that we will become responsible and good citizens of our country and make every effort to make it the best in the world !
