Jefferson,proclaimedtheunalienablerightsoflife,liberty,andthe
pursuitofhappiness.Itmarkedthebeginningofahard-fought
journeytowardsbuildingademocraticandfreesociety,onethat
continuestoinspirepeoplearoundtheworld.

IndependenceDayisanationalholidaycelebratedinmanycountriesaroundtheworld
tomarktheanniversaryoftheirindependenceorfreedomfromforeignruleorcolonial
powers.ThespecificdateandsignificanceofIndependenceDayvaryfromcountryto
country,dependingonthehistoricaleventsthatledtotheirindependence.
InthecontextoftheUnitedStates,IndependenceDay,alsoknownastheFourthof
July,iscelebratedonJuly4theachyear.Itcommemoratesthedaywhenthethirteen
AmericancoloniesdeclaredtheirindependencefromBritishrulein1776.Onthisday,
theContinentalCongressadoptedtheDeclarationofIndependence,aformaldocument
draftedprimarilybyThomasJefferson,whichdeclaredthecolonies'intentiontoforma
newnation,theUnitedStatesofAmerica.

●BritishColonialRule:TheBritishEastIndiaCompanyarrivedinIndiainthe
early1600sandgraduallyestablishedcontrolovervariousregions.Bythe
mid-19thcentury,theBritishCrownassumeddirectcontroloverIndia,leadingto
theestablishmentoftheBritishRaj.
●IndianIndependenceMovement:AsIndiacameunderBritishrule,asignificant
movementforindependencebegantotakeshapeinthelate19thandearly20th
centuries.Variousleaders,intellectuals,andsocialreformersemergedto
challengeBritishruleandadvocateforself-rule.
●FormationoftheIndianNationalCongress:TheIndianNationalCongress(INC)
wasfoundedin1885,playingacrucialroleintheindependencemovement.It
initiallyfocusedonconstitutionalmethodstoseekreformsandself-government
withintheBritishEmpire.
●Non-CooperationMovement:Intheearly1920s,MahatmaGandhiemergedasa
prominentleaderintheindependencemovement.Hechampionedthe
non-cooperationandcivildisobediencemovements,encouragingIndiansto
boycottBritishgoodsandinstitutions.


●SaltMarch:OneofthemostfamousactsofcivildisobediencewastheSaltMarch
in1930.Gandhileda240-milemarchtotheArabianSeatoprotesttheBritish
salttax,garneringinternationalattentionandsupport.
●QuitIndiaMovement:DuringWorldWarII,in1942,theIndianNational
CongresslaunchedtheQuitIndiaMovement,demandingtheimmediate
withdrawalofBritishrulefromIndia.Thismovementsawwidespreadprotests
andcivildisobedienceacrossthecountry.
●IndependenceandPartition:Thepressureoftheindependencemovement,
coupledwiththepost-warchangesinglobalpolitics,ledtheBritishgovernment

TheConstitutionofIndiawasmadeandadoptedbytheConstituentAssemblyofIndia

Constitution.Afterthecompletionofthedraftingprocessandnecessaryamendments,
theConstitutioncameintoeffectonJanuary26,1950,markingIndia'stransitionfroma
