OUR ACTION PLAN Topic Research and Selection (Day 1-2): We began by collectively researching the topic "India - A Superpower in the Making." We also identified key subtopics and areas of interest within the broader theme. Lastly, all of us discussed and finalized the specific aspects of India's journey to focus on. Assignment of Tasks (Day 2-3): Allocation of specific research tasks to each group member based on their strengths and interests. Ensuring that each member has a clear understanding of their responsibilities, through a meeting. Assignment of deadlines for individual research tasks.
Gather Information (Day 3-7): We Conducted thorough research using reputable sources such as books, articles, government reports, and academic papers, while taking detailed notes and compiling relevant data on India's economic growth, technological advancements, challenges, and global significance. Outline and Draft (Day 8-10): Creation of an outline for the project, organizing the information logically. Beginning of drafting the content for different sections, ensuring clarity and coherence. Collaboration through regular group meetings or online communication to discuss progress and share ideas. Peer Review (Day 11-12): Exchange drafts within the group for peer review. Provide constructive feedback on content, structure, and language. Revise and improve each other's work based on the feedback received.
Editing and Proof reading (Day 13-14): Carefully edit and proofread the entire project for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors. INDIA’S POTENTIAL TO BECOME A SUPERPOWER India, with its rich history, diverse culture, and vast resources, has long been seen as a country with the potential to become a global superpower. In recent years, India has made significant progress in various fields, positioning itself as a rising force in the world. India's demography is in itself a superpower. Its population has already surpassed China's, making it the most populous country in the world. While population alone does not guarantee superpower status, India's young and dynamic workforce presents a tremendous advantage. With a median age of 28.4 years, compared to China's 37.4 years, India has a large pool of productive individuals who can drive economic growth and innovation. In addition, India has been one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world in recent years. Its GDP growth rate has consistently outpaced many developed countries. The country has made significant strides in sectors like information technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and services. The government's focus on economic reforms, foreign investments, and initiatives like "Make in India" has further strengthened India's economic prospects. The government also brings out welfare programs, like PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana), MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana), PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana), NRHM (National Rural Health Mission), ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) for the well-being of its citizens.
India's robust information technology sector has gained international recognition. Indian companies are global leaders in software services, and many Indian professionals hold influential positions in multinational tech firms. India has a thriving start-up ecosystem, and cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad have become hubs for innovation and research. Investments in areas like artificial intelligence, robotics, and space technology further India's potential in the technology sector. The strategic geopolitical and graphical location in the South showcases its potential to become a developed country. It places it at the intersection of important trade routes. It has land borders with multiple countries, including Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. . Its maritime boundaries in the Indian Ocean provide access to crucial sea lanes. This strategic position gives India significant influence in regional affairs and allows it to play a pivotal role in shaping geopolitics. India also boasts one of the world's largest standing armies and possesses nuclear capabilities. Over the span of the last 20 years, the Indian government has engaged in multiple humanitarian relief and disaster management operations.
Ranging from the 2003 Sri Lankan floods to the recent Syria and Turkey earthquake disasters, the Indian government has provided medical assistance and relief supplies to the world’s major disaster-stricken countries. India’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief have largely been directed towards its neighbourhood, including after the 2004 tsunami and the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Hence, India has also been titled a “neighbourhood first responder”. India’s relief operations in the region are mainly bilateral regional efforts such as the SAARC Agreement on Rapid Response to Natural Disasters have not been successful. India’s total actual expenditure on disaster relief grants between 2009- 2019 was INR 495 Crore.
The country invests significantly in defence modernization and has been expanding its defence cooperation with various nations. India's military strength not only ensures its national security but also allows it to project power in the region and beyond. Its cultural influence extends far beyond its borders. Indian cinema, music, dance, and cuisine have a global following. In fact, ‘RRR’, in the year 2023, also won the Academy Awards, infamously known as the Oscars. The country's rich heritage, yoga, and spiritual practices have gained popularity worldwide. The Indian diaspora, known for their accomplishments in various fields, acts as cultural ambassadors, promoting India's soft power globally. Justifying, that India is in a run to develop fast, it has proven itself time to time with its global affairs. Be it helping Turkey at the time of the earthquake, or India being deemed as the ‘Pharmacy of the World’, at the time of Covid, Its presence in G-7 and G-20 summits for environmental conservation has confirmed the legacy India is leaving behind. Our nation has made significant strides in space exploration and research.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched numerous satellites, including missions to the Moon (Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2) and Mars (Mangalyaan). These achievements showcase India's technological prowess and ambition in exploring the final frontier. Chandrayaan 3, with its mission to explore the lunar surface, exemplifies India's dedication to advancing space exploration, strengthening its position as a rising superpower with a strong scientific and technological foundation.It is also committed to transitioning to a sustainable future. It is one of the world's largest producers of renewable energy, with substantial investments in solar and wind power. The country aims to achieve 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This focus on clean energy not only addresses environmental concerns but also positions India as a global leader in the renewable sector. Besides India’s progression to earning the title of a Superpower, India has also succumbed to many challenges, such as the abrogation of Article 370, and Sec 377 of the IPC, to recognizing the struggle of SCs, ST, and the people of the LGBTQA+ community, to addressing human rights. While India possesses several factors that contribute to its potential as a superpower, it also faces challenges. Issues like poverty, inequality, infrastructure development, and regional conflicts need to be addressed. However, India's trajectory as a rising power is undeniable, and with continued progress in key areas, it has the potential to emerge as a global superpower in the coming decades. In conclusion, India's demographic advantage, economic growth, technological advancements, strategic location, military strength, soft power, space exploration, and renewable energy potential all contribute to its potential to become a superpower. However, achieving superpower status is a complex and multifaceted process that requires addressing internal challenges and navigating the ever-changing global dynamics.
