Indian Ethical Values in Business 1. Dharma (Righteous Duty) Refers to performing one’s duty with honesty, fairness, and justice. In business: Treating employees fairly, paying taxes honestly, complying with laws. 2. Satya (Truthfulness) Emphasizes honesty and transparency. In business: Giving correct information in advertisements, avoiding false promises. 3. Ahimsa (Non-violence) Avoiding harm to others in thought, word, and action. In business: Ensuring consumer safety, avoiding harmful products, protecting the environment.
4. Loka- Sangraha (Welfare of Society) Business is not only for profit but also for social good. In business: CSR activities, rural development, education, healthcare initiatives. 5. Tyaga & Seva (Sacrifice and Service) Tyaga : Sacrificing selfish interests. Seva: Serving others selflessly. In business: Sharing profits for community welfare, helping during natural disasters, philanthropy. 6. Aparigraha (Non-possessiveness / Non-greediness) Avoiding unlimited accumulation of wealth and resources. In business: Fair pricing, sustainable use of resources , avoiding corruption.
7 . Trust and Relationship Trust forms the foundation of long-term business relations. In business: Building loyalty with customers, fairness with suppliers, respecting employees. 8. Gandhian Principles Based on truth ( satya ), non-violence (ahimsa), simplicity, and trusteeship. In business: Trusteeship Model: Wealth is held in trust for society. Swadeshi: Promoting local production and self-reliance. Ethical Leadership: Leading by example with integrity and humility.
