Industry:
The word “Industry refers to the part of business activities which related to growing,
extraction, production, conversion, processing or fabrication of goods.” The industry
produce different kinds of products for different purposes which may be classified
as follows:
1.Primary products
2.Semi-manufactured goods
3.Manufactured goods:
i- Capital or producer’s goods
ii- Consumer’s goods

1- Primary Products:-
Extract raw materials (which are natural products) from the land or sea e.g. oil, iron
ore, timber, fish. Mining, quarrying, fishing, forestry, and farming are all example of
primary industries. It is a nature-oriented industry, which requires very little human
effort.

2- Semi manufactured goods:-
Semi-manufactured goods are those goods which are produced by one industry but
can not be consumed as such unless it is passes through another industry to undergo
further manufacturing processes to obtain a finished product. For example capsule
shells are manufactured in a one kind industry but filling in done in another kind of
industry. Similarly pig iron, cotton yarn and pulp etc.

Manufactured goods:-
Manufactured goods are those goods which are ready for use by the consumers or
other users. The example of manufactured goods includes cloth, sugar, paper, various
medicines, machines, tools etc.

The manufactured goods are further classified as
i- Capital or producer's goods
ii- Consumer’s goods.

Capital or Producer's goods:-
Those goods which are used in the process of producing some other goods. The
example of producer’s goods include pig iron, store items, machine tools and
machinery etc. used for manufacturing other products.

ii- Consumer’s goods:-
Consumer’s goods are those goods which are ready to use by the consumers and
require no further processing. The example of consumer’s goods Include drugs such as
tablet, capsule, syrups, injection etc.

1- Genetic Industry
The word ‘genetic’ means parentage or heredity. Genetic industries are concerned
mainly with producing – breeding or multiplying of certain species of plants or
animals with the object of earning profits from their sale. Examples of these types
are nurseries, forestry, cattle breeding and commercial kennels. Animal husbandry is
types of Genetic Industry.
2- Extractive Industry
These industries are concerned with the Extractive of materials from the earth, sea
and air. It includes raising and collection of the natural products of the soil for the
subsistence of human beings, such as mining, fishing and hunting, etc. In most of
the case, extractive industries are just directed to change the location of the
commodities and making thing more useful to mankind.
3- Manufacturing Industry
They are concerned with the converting of the form of the raw materials and semi-
manufactured goods into finished products. The process of manufacturing things
changes the form of the articles extracted from earth, sea and air, and makes it more
useful to the consumer by adding new utilities too.

Analytical Industries:-
In analytical industry, the raw material is broken down into several useful materials. For
example an oil refinery separates crude oil into kerosene, gasoline, diesel oil and petrol,
etc.

Synthetically industry
These industries put together two or more materials to form a new product such as
pasties, concrete, gypsum and coals are mixed up to produces cermets. Products like
Various chemicals, drugs, soaps, cosmetics, paints, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. are
produced by synthetic industries.
Processing industry
These industries are concerned with the processing of raw materials through different
stages of production. Textiles, steel, etc. may be mentioned as examples of processing
industry.
Assembling industry
Assembling industries are those industries where the parts or components are assembled
to make a useful product. These industries are angered in bringing together various
components or parts of bicycles, television, radio and these are some example of
assembling industries.

Construction Industry
Construction industry is also an impotent industry. Construction of
bridge, building, road tunnel, over-drudge, fly over, factory balding,
etc. come under construction industry.

Service Industry
The industry, which earns profit by giving service, is known as service
industry. Institution institutions like clinic, private hospital, hotel, transport,
etc are examples of service industry. In modern times service sector plays
an important role in the development of the nation and therefore it is
named as service industry. The main industries, which fall under this
category, include hotel industry, tourism industry, entertainment industry,
etc.
