About This Presentation

Infant mortality rate (IMR) is the number of deaths per 1,000 live births of children under one year of age. The rate for a given region is the number of children dying under one year of age, divided by the number of live births during the year, multiplied by 1,000.

Defination of .. Infant : Children under 1 year of age. Mortality: Death Rate Rate: certain quantity, measure Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) It is a ratio of death under 1 year of age in a given year to the total number of live birth. or It is the total number of infants death per thousand live birth at a specific year.

CONTD…. It is most universally accepted indicator of the health status of infants. High Infant Mortality Rate indicates that the social, economic and health status of a country is not in good condition. It also show higher level of the health status of the people.

INFANT MORTALITY CAN BE CALCULATED BY USING FORMULA … IMR= Do * 1000 B Where, IMR= Infant Mortality Rate Do= total number of infants deaths in the given place within specific year. B= total number of live births happening in that place in the year.
