COMMUNICATION IS THE INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE PERSONS THAT INVOLVE EXCHANGE BETWEEN SENDER AND RECEIVER. PMS 2

3. DEFINITION OF HEALTH EDUCATION : A process aimed at encouraging people to be healthy, to know what they can do individually and collectively to maintain health and seek health when needed. ( Declaration of Alma- Ata , 1978) The process by which individual and group of people learn to behave in a manner conducive to promotion, maintenance and restoration of health. PMS 3

4. OBJECTIVES OF HEALTH EDUCATION: To encourage people to adopt healthy lifestyles and practice to sustain good health. To promote the proper use of health services available for them. To motivate people to make their own health related decisions. To increase and improve the knowledge and attitude of public about detection, treatment and control of disease. To create the awareness about the ill effects of alcohol, smoking etc. To improve the knowledge, expertise and correct practices to solve their health problem at their level. PMS 4
