TYPES OF INFRA RED 1-Short Wave IR Short Wave IR  (SWIR) is a subset of the  infrared  band in the electromagnetic spectrum, covering the wavelengths ranging from 1.0 to 3 microns. This  wavelength  is not visible to human eyes and as a result can often offer a better image than what is achievable with visible light imaging .

2-Mid-Wave Infrared MWIR ( Mid - Wave Infrared )  Mid - Wave  or MWIR  Infrared  is a subset of the  infrared  band of the electromagnetic spectrum, covering the wavelengths ranging from 3µm to 5µm (3000nm to 5000nm). This is the radiant heat that our cooled thermal imaging cameras see.

3- Far - Infrared   What Is Far - Infrared  Radiation. Wavelengths of 5 μm to 1,000 μm within the  infrared  range of electromagnetic radiation (light) are known more specifically as far- infrared .

IT USES BELOW 800nM WAVELENGTH. IT IS DETECTED BY SILICON PHOTODIODES.

METEOROLOGY range 10.3 to 12.5 Climatology 4.5 to 50 for global warming Astronomy for distant galaxies. Infrared cleaning for scanners to remove dust. Art conservation as reflectography to reveal underlying layers.

It uses 3 TO 5 micro meter and 8 to 14 micro meter wavelength
