What is a paragraph?

1. Narrative paragraph When you read a story related with an experience, you read a narrative . Narrative describes a sequence of events . The purpose of narrative is storytelling .

1.1 Narration element When you read a story, you can easily notice its elements like: Character (ex: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, etc.) Settings of the story (ex: in London, Jakarta before dawn, etc.) Plot/sequence of events

2. Descriptive paragraph When you read a paragraph which describes how something looks (object, person, place), it is a descriptive paragraph . The main objective of this kind of paragraph is to bring an object, a person, or a place to life for the readers .

Interesting details are needed in this paragraph . The author chooses words to describe: - Sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and feelings so readers can imagine the scene being described. …
