CHAPTER 4 Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data Prepared By: Mr. Meynard P. Ostria, RPm
Title: The Relationship Between Self-Esteem and Academic Performance of Students STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM What is the demographic profile of the students in terms of; Gender Age 2. What is the level of the Academic Performance of the respondents? 3. What is the perceived level of Self Esteem of the respondents? 4. Is there a significant relationship between the self-esteem and academic performance of the respondents.
SAMPLE QUESTIONNAIRE Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) 4(SA) 3(A) 2(D) 1(SD) 1. At times, I think I am no good at all ® 2. I feel I do not have to be proud of ® 3. I certainly feel useless at times ® 4. I take positive attitude toward myself 5. On the whole I am satisfied with my self Name (optional): Gender: Final Average During 1 st Semester: Age:
STATISTICAL TREATMENT Percentage: appropriate when it is important to know how many of the participants gave a particular answer. Weighted Mean: used to calculate the average value of the data Pearsons R: utilized when you have two quantitative variables and you wish to see if there is a linear relationship between those variables

CHAPTER 4 DATA PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA PROBLEM 1: Demographic Profile of the Respondents Gender Frequency (f) Percentage (%) Male 4 40.00% Female 6 60.00% Total 10 100.00% Table 1.1 shows the gender of the respondents. Out of 10 respondents 6 are female which is 60% of the total number of respondents, 4 of them are Male which comprised 40% of the study. In this research female participants dominated the population as the subject in this study. Table 1.1 Frequency and Percentage Distribution of the Respondents Profile in terms of Gender

ANO ANG CORRELATION? Ang correlation ay ginagamit upang malaman kung may relationship sa dalawa or higit pang bilang ng variables Madalas , ang Pearson-r ang statistical treatment na ginagamit para malaman ang strength at direction ng correlation
DIRECTION NG RELATIONSHIP POSITIVE: NEGATIVE: NO CORRELATION X Y Or X Y X Y
STRENGTH NG RELATIONSHIP Kapag mas malapit sa 1 o -1 , mas strong ang relationship. Kapag mas malapit sa 0, mas mahina ang relationship ng mga variables
HYPOTHESIS TESTING H0: There is no relationship between Self Esteem and Academic Performance of the Students H1: There is a significant relationship between Self-Esteem and Academic Performance of Students Title: The Relationship Between Self-Esteem and Academic Performance of Students
PEARSON-R FORMULA r = correlation coefficient n = number of paired values ∑ xy = sum of the products of paired scores ∑x = sum of the x scores ∑y = sum of the y scores ∑x^2 = sum of squared x-values ∑y^2 = sum of squared y-values

WHAT’S NEXT? We’re done computing the r but still We can’t jump into the conclusion that self –esteem and academic performance has significant relationship with each other.
ALAMIN ANG CRITICAL VALUE df = N – 2 df = 10 – 2 df = 8 *** df = degree of freedom*** *** N = number of participants ***
TWO TAILED ANG GINAMIT NATIN KASI GUSTO LANG NATIN ALAMIN KUNG MAY RELATIONSHIP OR WALA The significance level, also denoted as alpha or α, is the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true. For example, a significance level of 0.05 indicates a 5% risk of concluding that a difference exists when there is no actual difference
IKUMPARA ANG COMPUTED VALUE (r) SA CRITICAL VALUE NA CRITICAL VALUE (GALING SA TABLE) r = 0.05 Table r = .632
