Unit 1
Lesson 1
Introducing the SAP Intelligent Enterprise
Framework
LESSON OBJECTIVES
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
●Explain the SAP Intelligent Enterprise framework
The SAP Intelligent Enterprise Framework
Figure 1: Intelligent Enterprises Elevate Employees to Focus on Higher-Value Tasks
By applying intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, the IoT,
and advanced analytics, we can help our customers transform into event-driven businesses
that automate repetitive tasks and enable employees to focus on higher value tasks. The
Intelligent Enterprise builds upon the promise of digital transformation by applying data-
driven intelligence to drive automated actions and decisions based on superior insights.
In the era of the Intelligent Enterprise, the ability to automate is much more sophisticated
than in prior years. Whereas historically, we have been able to drive automation through
analysis of numbers, today's intelligent technologies can provide deeper insights based on a
greater variety of data sources, such as text, video, and imagery. Furthermore, this
automation can be administered far more cost-effectively today than in previous years
because new tools make emerging technologies more consumable by embedding the
intelligence within the business processes. When many routine activities are automated, the
workforce can focus on higher-value activities such as customer success, strategic planning,
and innovation.

Next Practices
Figure 2: Next Practices: Capabilities and Outcomes Driven by Intelligent Enterprise
The figure illustrates the Next practices.
What Are Next Practices?
In today's world, the concept of best practices is becoming increasingly outdated. Winners in
the digital economy are characterized by one main characteristic: Speed. First mover
advantage in creating new markets and capturing mindshare is more critical than ever. These
winners have adopted a set of "next practices" that help them innovate faster than the
competition. These next practices are defined by a set of capabilities and outcomes that are
made possible by next-gen technologies. While the capabilities themselves may not be new
aspirations for the enterprise, the Intelligent Enterprise delivers these capabilities better,
faster and more completely than ever before.
Capabilities are:
●Visibility: The ability to collect and connect data that was previously siloed and to
recognize unseen patterns.
●Focus: The ability to simulate the impact of potential options and direct scarce resources
to the areas of maximum impact.
●Agility: The ability to respond faster to changes in the marketplace or the business and to
pivot business processes toward the right customer outcomes.
Outcomes are:
●Deliver best-in-class customer experience by anticipating and proactively responding to
end-customer needs.
●Deliver a step change in productivity by increasing the level of automation.
●Do more with less and empower employees through process automation and elevating
people to do more meaningful work.

Unit 1
Lesson 2
Explaining the Value of SAP Integration
LESSON OBJECTIVES
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
●Explain the key principles of the SAP integration vision
Key Principles of the SAP Integration Vision
Figure 8: The Four Key Principles of the SAP Integration Vision
SAP defined four key principles, which defined the way to deliver integration for SAP
solutions:
●Out-of-the-box integration: Objective is to target at minimal effort for SAP-to-SAP
integration. SAP addresses the integration challenge through different measures: By
aligning the business semantics of SAP applications and by automating integration.
●Open integration: Here SAP is targeting openness on several levels: SAP applications are
supposed to expose more APIs to enable a modular and flexible Intelligent Suite. These
APIs can be used for custom application extensions, building innovations on top and more.
Another aim is to improve the integration of non SAP applications, B2B and B2G
integration
●Holistic integration: The integration strategy goes beyond classical application integration.
The objective is to deliver a consistent customer experience across the Intelligent Suite
which includes User Experience Integration, data integration to enable a common data
foundation, process integration to support end-to-end processes and more
