Recap ESD Safety ▪ Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can occur when there is a buildup of an electric charge that exists on a surface which comes into contact with another differently charged surface. ▪ ESD can cause damage to computer equipment if not discharged properly. ▪ At least 3,000 volts of static electricity must build up before a person can feel ESD.
the Ball! Pass Let’s have a GAME! The students will form a circle and pass the ball around while the music is playing. When the music stops, the student with the ball will give their observation on the picture flashed on the screen.

Introduction to Basic Computer Hardware Components
Objectives: 1 Identify the various computer hardware components and their functions. Illustrate the components in a computer system and its significance and; Appreciate the importance of the hardware components. 2 3 By the end of the lesson, you should be able to:
Internal Hardware Internal hardware refers to the components inside a computer system that are responsible for processing data, storing information, and managing the overall operation of the computer.
INTERNAL HARDWARE CPU Central Processing Unit (CPU) The central processing unit (CPU) is responsible for interpreting and executing commands. The CPU is a small microchip that resides within a CPU package. The CPU socket is the connection between the motherboard and the processor.
Motherboard INTERNAL HARDWARE Motherboard The motherboard is the backbone of the computer. It is a printed circuit board (PCB) that contains buses, or electrical pathways, that interconnect electronic components. These components may be soldered directly to the motherboard, or added using sockets, expansion slots, and ports.
RAM INTERNAL HARDWARE Random Access Memory RAM is the temporary working storage for data and programs that are being accessed by the CPU. RAM is volatile memory. Adding more RAM in a computer enhances the system performance. However, the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed is limited by the motherboard.
HDD INTERNAL HARDWARE Hard Disk Drive A hard drive or hard disk drive (HDD) is a type of data storage device that is used in laptops and desktop computers. An HDD is a “non-volatile” storage drive, which means it can retain the stored data even when no power is supplied to the device.
System Unit System Unit A system unit is the main box-like structure of a computer with all the essential components needed for the computer to work. Inside the system unit, you'll find the brain of the computer called the CPU (or central processing unit), the main circuit board (known as the motherboard), and RAM (random access memory).
External Hardware External hardware refers to the devices and components that connect to the outside of a computer system. These peripherals enhance the computer's functionality and allow for user interaction.
Keyboard EXTERNAL HARDWARE Keyboard Input device used for typing documents. Utilized for accessing shortcuts. Helps in navigating menus and performing other tasks.
Mouse EXTERNAL HARDWARE Mouse Device that controls the cursor or pointer on a display screen. Used for selecting, dragging, and dropping items. Essential for graphical user interface interaction.
Webcam EXTERNAL HARDWARE Web Camera Input device for capturing video and still images. Used for video conferencing and streaming. Helps in creating digital content and online communication.
Printer EXTERNAL HARDWARE Printer External device that produces a hard copy of electronic data. Converts digital documents into printed form. Essential for producing physical records and reports.
Monitor EXTERNAL HARDWARE Monitor Output device displaying information in text, video, and graphics. Essential for visual feedback and interaction with the computer. Comes in various sizes and resolutions for different needs.
Speaker EXTERNAL HARDWARE Speaker Output device that generates sound. Used for listening to audio from the computer. Can be integrated into the system or connected externally for better sound quality.
Thumb Drive EXTERNAL HARDWARE Flash Drive Portable storage device for data transfer. Used for backing up and transporting files. Compact and easy to carry, making it convenient for on-the-go data access.
Group Activity The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will be given different task. You will identify the parts given the functions already and paste the picture to its appropriate functions. You will identify the functions given the parts already and post it to its appropriate parts. Group 1 Group 2
