About This Presentation

This presentation is a detailed but easy to understand on the topic of optics. Any one who is looking to delve deeper into the optics topic in physics this would be a great introduction to the subject. So for anyone trying to get the Fundamentals on optics this topic will cover lenses and mirrors. C...

OUTLINE

What is light

The classical description of light

•By The EM spectrum

Images
•Virtual–Seen in the mirror and exist
in the brain.
•Real–form on screens and other
surfaces.
d
o= Object distance
d
i = Image distance (Taken negative)
Plane Mirrors

1/d
o+ 1/d
i = 1/f
Spherical mirrors

1 -A ray that is initially parallel to the central axis reflects through the focal point F.
2 -A ray that reflects from mirror after passing through F emerges parallel to the central axis.
3 -A ray reflecting from mirror after passing through C returns along itself.
4 -A ray reflecting from point C is reflected symmetrically about that axis.
Locating images by drawing rays on concave mirror
