The Citizens’ Jury A CITIZENS’ JURY is a mechanism or tool for engaging citizens in dialogue in a semi-structured way . The jury completes many of the same tasks that a regular jury in a court of law might do – it listens to witnesses , reviews evidence , requests additional information , and deliberates based on the facts available .

Why a citizens’ jury?

IPPOSI Citizens’ Juries 2021 JURY CALLED FOR: Joined-up health records Independent Public Champion for health information Access to portal to view and manage information Protection against sharing information with employers, banks, etc. Funding for cybersecurity and zero tolerance for misuse 2022 JURY VERDICT THEMES: Appropriate Use National Partnerships Data Security Consent Public Engagement By end of 2024.... THE AI JURY PROCESS – 12 months Phase I Phase II Phase III

Phase I: Pre-jury phase: 6 months

GOVERNANCE: overseeing the process

REPRESENTATIVE: selecting the jurors 50 radio, print (national + local) pieces e.g. Employ- ment   Info about age, gender, location, education, ethnicity Performed by experts in ethics and informatics

How aware are you of the use of AI in your day-to-day life?  How comfortable are you with the use of AI in Irish healthcare? How familiar are you with  any or all of the terms , artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning  and/or natural language processing? RESPONDENTS: 440 applicants completing an expression of interest to join the 2024 Citizens’ Jury
