Introduction ISBT stands for Inter-State Bus Terminal, which serves as a major hub for intercity and interstate bus travel. Purpose and Importance : Facilitates organized and efficient bus transportation. Enhances connectivity between cities and states. Reduces congestion in city centers by managing bus traffic at a dedicated terminal. Provides a structured system for ticketing, passenger amenities, and vehicle management. 3 3

Entrance & Exit Zones •Minimum width: 7.5m for each lane (NBC recommendation) •Separate lanes for entry and exit to ensure smooth traffic flow •Security checkpoints with baggage scanners and automatic barrier •Height clearance: 4.5m for bus entry ( Neufert standard) •Signage and lighting for clear visibility 3 5

BUS MAINTENANCE FACILITIES 6 Bus maintenance Facilities: This relates to the bus maintenance infrastructure at the terminal, and can be classified into two broad categories: On site- -Maintenance/breakdown facilities are provided inside the terminal boundary Provisions include re-served parking bays for breakdown vehicles, space for a mini workshop, room for tools etc Off Site- - Maintenance/breakdown facilities are not provided inside the terminal boundary but sourced off site.- usually to local, privately operated repair workshops in the terminal's vicinity Bus Maintenance & Repair Bays Dedicated area: 20 sq.m per bay Fire safety and pollution control measures Storage for spare parts and waste disposal unit Fuel Station & EV Charging Zones Fuel stations: Minimum 500 sq.m area EV charging: 2 dedicated bays per 10 conventional bays Compliance with fire and electrical safety standards

25 The minimum size of the lift should be 1500 mm wide by 1500mm deep wherever possible, 13 passenger lift to be provided, which allows easy of wheelchair user. Each lift to have a mirror at the back so that a wheelchair user can see which floor they have reached. The mirror should be located in a way that the floor number to be easily indicated in the mirror. Lift locations should be clearly signposted from the main pedestrian route, and recognizable through design and location It should be located near to the entrance door so that persons with disabilities don’t have to search or move more in the building premises to search them. They should be easily seen from the accessible route without any hindrances in the route.
