What are the three types of rocks?

How do rocks change from one type to another?

METAMORPHISM It is from the Greek word “meta” means change and “morphe” means form. Metamorphism does not actually melt the rocks but transforms them into denser, more compact rocks. Mineral may also be rearranged due to chemical reactions involving fluids that enter rocks

EXAMPLES OF METAMORPHIC ROCKS Slate is used commercially for your classroom blackboards and for pool table tops.

PRESSURE

PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO ROCKS IN THREE DIFFERENT WAYS PORE PRESSURE- the pressure applied by fluids trapped in sediments or grains of porous rocks. The presence of water speeds up reactions by acting as catalyst and increasing the rare of ion exchange.
