IT AND ICT LESSON 1 NICOLAI CORTES BSE SCIENCE GE ELEC 3
OPENING PRAYER
OBJECTIVES
OBJECTIVES 1. Define IT and ICT
2. Express the difference between IT and ICT
3. Distinguish data from information
5. Describe the characteristics used to evaluate the value of data
MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY
Motivational activity The class will going to answer multiples scenarios and decide if that is an example of IT or ICT along with their given justification. Other learners can say Steal if they want to contradict the answer of his/her fellow classmate. After each answers and rebuttal provided per students, the rest of the class will going to do vote casting and decide who’s answer they are going to choose. Each successful answer and rebuttal will represent one point per individual that will be added to their recitation grade for this meeting. The student who obtained the most highest points will win this activity. Each points is equivalent to 10 stars
Motivational activity 1. CCTVs that are used to ensure security.

REVIEW
Review The learners will answer a pre assessment paper wherein they must compare and differentiate IT and ICT and at the same time is to provide at least three examples per each categories based on what they initially know about IT and ICT. They will be given a maximum of 10 minutes in order to finish the task.
IT AND ICT MODULE 1 FORMAL DISCUSSION
OVERALL CONSENSUS TO THE TOPIC Our lives are profoundly influence by computerization, and thus the concept of technology has evolved throughout the years. As human progresses, more and more technological changes are taking place around us. The term technology, includes advancement in communication and how information is being handled, thus enable the governments, organizations, industries, and ordinary individuals to improve on their decision making, business processes, and everyday living.
Ict The term Information and Communications Technology or ICT stands for “Information and Communication Technology.” ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is similar to Information Technology (IT), but focuses primarily on communication technologies. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the combination of informatics technology with other related technologies, specifically communication technology. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums.
ICT In the past few decades, information and communication technologies have provided society with a vast array of new communication capabilities. For example, people can communicate in realtime with others in different countries using technologies such as instant messaging, voice over IP (VoIP), and video-conferencing. Social networking websites like Facebook allow users from all over the world to remain in contact and communicate on a regular basis.
ICT Modern information and communication technologies have created a “global village,” in which people can communicate with others across the world as if they were living next door. For this reason, ICT is often studied in the context of how modern communication technologies affect society.
ICT Information and Communications Technology, or ICT, is often used in a more general sense, and is described as using computers and other digital technologies to assist individuals or institutions in handling or using information. ICT is technology that supports activities involving information such as gathering, processing, storing and presenting data. Increasingly, these activities also involve collaboration and communications.
ICT ICT is divided into three portions, INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION and TECHNOLOGY
ICT (information/DATA) Information refers to the knowledge obtained from reading, investigation, study or research. Some of the tools that transmit information are the telephone, television, and radio. Not to be confused with data, information is regarded as processed data. Computers normally processed data that are later understood as information. For example, while typing on your laptop, you usually punch in random letters on your keyboard to make up words and sentences. The typing on the keyboard is considered as input data while the words and sentences you sew on the computer monitor is considered as output information.
ICT (DATA) In data, they are four types to be consider and these are the following; Alphanumeric Data Image Data Audio Data Video Data
ICT (INFORMATION) In Information, they are three categories to be consider and these are the following; INACCURATE/INCOMPLETE INFORMATION LITTLE VALUE INFORMATION VALUABLE INFORMATION
ICT (COMMUNICATION) Communication is defined an act of transmitting messages. It is a process in which information is exchanged between individuals through verbal and non-verbal means. During the pre-historic time, humans do communicate through signs or symbols as evidenced by cave drawings and paintings, rock art, stone carvings and the like. Forms of communication have evolved through time as communicating more and more complex ideas has become necessary. With technology, communication is faster, more convenient, and more efficient. When face-to- face meeting is not possible, long distance communication or virtual communication is now common and easy with the use of smartphones and computers with internet access.
ICT (TECHNOLOGY) Technology has evolved in ways that improve people’s daily activities. As mentioned above, technology has made communication much easier and faster through telephones, fax machines, mobile devices, and the internet. It has also made broadcasting of information, such as news or weather reports, more effective. Radio, television, satellites and the World Wide Web, are powerful tools that can be used by individuals to gather needed information to aid them in their office, school or house work, or in simple day-to-day activities.
IT Information Technology or IT, pertains to the industry that involves computers, software, networking, and other IT infrastructure to help relay or manage information important in modern-day living as seen primarily in large companies or corporations. IT is the collective name given to machines, which accept data, process these data and releases information. IT is a broad range of technologies based on computing, networks and data storage. Such technologies process information at high speed and are commonly used in automation, transaction processing, knowledge processes, decision making, problem solving, control systems, robotics, data analysis, information access and entertainment.
IT (THREE CAPABILITITIES OF IT) It can process raw data into useful information. It can recycle processed information & use it as data in another processing step. It can pack information in a new form so its easier to understand, more attractive, or more useful.

Individual activity
INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY For the individual activity, each students will going to provide 2 samples each per categories as follows for 20 minutes before submission; IT ICT INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY DATA ALPHANUMERIC IMAGE AUDIO VIDEO INFORMATION INACCURATE/INCOMPLETE INFORMATION LITTLE VALUE INFORMATION VALUABLE INFORMATION
APPLICATION
Application After the 20 minutes mark to their given activity for this lesson, the teacher will randomly select 10 students to present their work to the class. Each selected students will going to have a maximum of 5 minutes time mark in presenting their output.
EVALUATION
Evaluation For the post assessment, each learner will answer 5 questions and their answer should be in paragraph form and not less than 100 words. The highest point per each item is 20 points while the lowest is 5 points. They will only have a maximum of 40 minutes in finishing the evaluation.
Evaluation QUESTIONS; 1. What is IT? 2. What is ICT? 3. What is Data? 4. What is Information? 5. What are the Differences and Similarities between IT/ICT and Data/Information?
HOMEWORK
HOMEWORK Before the class ends, there will be an assignment that will be given to them individually. Their assignment is to create a position paper with the given issue regarding technological advances and development. The issue is, will the continues progress and development of technology will form a POSITIVE or NEGATIVE impact in the future and why? This assignment can be submitted until next week.
