Networking Solutions 4 Upgraded to a scalable and resilient three-tier architecture (Core, Distribution, Access layers). The network is segregated with multiple VLANs for wired, wireless, and server farm access to minimize broadcast traffic 3 Tier Architecture Unified Threat Management (UTM) delivers multiple security features in one device, simplifying protection against threats. It includes web filtering and the latest signature updates to safeguard the network, even during natural disasters UTM To boost Wi-Fi performance and introduce users to the latest technology, IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2 APs have been deployed. Robust Wi-Fi PSG introduced a DMZ to enhance security for PSG Tech’s LAN. This monitored network node faces outside the internal network, allowing access to exposed resources while keeping the rest of the network protected behind a firewall. DMZ
Data Centre 5 Providing round-the-clock access to information makes data centers some of the most energy-consuming facilities in the world. Greater redundancy will be achieved by deploying Redundant Core Switches on VSS and Firewalls in High Availability Mode Facility Uninterruptible Power Sources (UPS) – battery banks, generators and redundant power sources. Environmental Control – computer room air conditioners (CRAC), heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and exhaust systems with N+1 redundancy and Physical Security Systems – biometrics and video surveillance systems have been installed. Support Infrastructure Actual equipment for IT operations and storage of the organization’s data. This includes servers, storage hardware, Networking Switches and NMS Solution, cables and racks, as well as a variety of information security elements, such as firewalls. IT Equipment To monitor operations and maintain IT and infrastructural equipment around the clock. Operations Staff
Internet & Intranet 6 The College Intranet hosts academic details like class timetables, continuous assessments, student feedback, and workload for students and staff. System administrators/programmers handle the processing and maintenance of results and assessments. Intranet The websites www.psgtech.edu , , www.psgpolytech.ac.in , www.psgias.ac.in , www.psgfoundry.in , and www.psgim.ac.in are developed and maintained in-house. To enhance Internet access for staff and students, the bandwidth has been increased from 300 Mbps to 1600 Mbps over the past five years. Internet PSG College of Technology’s website has been made dynamic with a content management system, allowing each department to manage their own page while maintaining site consistency. Faculty can also update their profiles as needed. Content Management System

Firewall Firewalls manage network traffic based on set security rules, blocking unwanted access and protecting daily computing. Network security depends on these, particularly Next Generation Firewalls that target malware and application attacks. Our campus uses SonicWall firewalls: Supermassive 9600 NSA 5600 .
Core Switches Core Layer: The core layer is the network's backbone, handling data transmission and routing. It includes high-capacity switches and transmitters that manage large amounts of data, sending it to the distribution layer. .
Distribution Switches The distribution layer acts as an intermediary. It uses layer 2 switches to route data packets to specific access devices, preventing congestion. These switches collect data from core switches, identify the packet type and destination, and then forward it appropriately. This layer helps direct data accurately, reduces traffic, and avoids unwanted data returns.
Access Switches The access layer connects directly to subnets and contains access devices like modems and IP devices. Layer 3 switches in this layer receive data from the distribution layer and route it to these access devices. Users access information through these subnets.
Wi-Fi In March 2023, secure Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access points were purchased, and the Academic and Hostel campus were designated as Wi-Fi zones. This facility was built at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crores. Faculty and students use around 5682 computer systems that are networked. Currently the campus has 1400 Mbps of Internet Bandwidth. Based on the Internet usage by the faculty and students, the bandwidth procured from Internet Service Providers vary from 48 Mbps to 1400 Mbps over a period of seven years. Currently our campus using wireless controller following model: I. Cisco wireless controller 5520 II. Aruba wireless controller 7210
