1.1 Background
The Electronics Era (1976-2001)
►PICTC started as Punjab State Electronics Development and Production
Corporation Limited (PSEPCL) in 1976 with a role to develop, operate and
promote electronics and electrical industrial development.
The Information Technology Era (2002-2009)
►With the dismantling of license permit raj and emergence of IT, the Corporation
was rechristened as Punjab Information and Communication Technology Ltd.
(PICTCL) in year 2002. The corporation's focus shifted to the promotion of IT
Industry and undertaking IT and E-Governance projects.
