The use of symbols and graphical images is a simple safety systems used to convey safety messages at a glance Colours and symbols appropriately used can provide information and warnings of hazards which are essential to safety at work, and in some instances may be independent of language.

17. PROHIBITION SIGNS A “Prohibition Sign” means a safety Sign Prohibiting behaviour likely to cause a risk to health or safety. Prohibition safety signs generally use a black safety symbol in a red circle with a diagonal cross through. They are RED in colour .

18. MANDATORY SIGNS Are regulatory signs which indicate that an instruction must be carried out. They give a positive instruction. In other words they tell you what to do rather than not to do. These signs are in BLUE colour

19. WARNING SIGNS A warning sign is a type of sign which indicates a potential hazard, obstacle or condition requiring special attention which, if not avoided, could results in death or serious injury. They are normally triangular but can be other shapes. These signs are YELLOW.

20. INFORMATION ABOUT SAFE CONDITION SIGNS These signs tell safe conditions people of safe places to go or. Related facilities (exits, first aid, safety equipment, etc.) These signs are in GREEN colour .

21. FIRE SAFETY SIGNS Fire safety warning signs , fire exits, and fire fighting equipment are also covered. They require employers to provide specific safety signs whenever there is a risk that has not been avoided or controlled by other means . These signs are in RED colour
