Carotid Sheath (Page 6)
A tube of deep fascia that surrounds big
vessels and nerves in the neck.
Attachments:
Above: To tympanic plate and petrous
bone.
Below: To fibrous pericardium.
Anterior: to pretracheal fascia.
Posterior: Prevertebral fascia.
Dr.Sherif Fahmy

Contents:
•Common and internal carotid arteries.
•Internal jugular vein.
•Vagus nerve. In the upper part lower 4
cranial nerves are present in the upper
part of sheath.
Structures embeded:
-Ansa cervicalis in anterior wall.
-Sympathetic chain in posterior wall.
