O-LI/LI Overlay Problems Large Scale “Mixed Use”/Town Center Apartments Also, Drive- thu Restaurants

O-LI/LI Overlay Problems (cont’d) Impact on Newtown Borough July 9, 2024, Letter from Newtown Borough Solicitor to Township: “While the Borough understands and respects that the Township has full authority and prerogative to enact responsible zoning ordinances within its boundary, from the text of the Ordinance, it does not appear that the Jointure nor the Township has yet to consider the impact an overlay that permits and encourages large-scale mixed-use development may have on the Borough . “The Borough recognizes the unique and somewhat symbiotic relationship shared with the Township. In undertaking planning endeavors, the Borough would hope that the Township would be open to the concerns and thoughts of the Borough regarding a new zoning scheme that extends the residential community closest to the Borough and the associated impacts that that scheme may have on our shared community. “The Borough requests that representatives of the Board and Borough Council have the opportunity to meet and discuss these issues prior to the Board taking action on this Ordinance on behalf of the Township.”
