Slide Content

Kaladham is an International Arts and Cultural Centre , located at Vijayanagar, 25Kms from Hampi . Inaugurated in 2012, the Museum is an initiative of Mrs. Sangita Jindal and the JSW Foundation for bringing awareness about India’s living heritage. It is a unique contribution to the visual and acoustic record of the Hampi precinct. Kaladham draws upon the products of the archeological imaginary and the visual languages of archaeology, photography and new media. In this museum these elements converge to present the ancient Hindu kingdom of Vijayanagara from a myriad of perspectives. It is a hub that inspires traditional as well as contemporary artists and performers across boundaries in India to collaborate, learn and try out new narratives from within their existing domains of creativity. Activities : Performance galleries and courts, Museum Shop & Cafe, OAT, temple and auditorium (for cultural activities) Dance Hall, Library, Conference and Exhibition facilities Area : ten acre The Centre was successfully built with a vision to have a small environmental footprint. Resources and manpower for construction were garnered almost entirely from within a thirty miles radius of Bellary in Karnataka. The art village is rooted in a concept visualised by Australian artist Sarah Kenderline . Through  interactive technologies and stunning panoramic 3D photography  visitors engage in sensorial and experiential encounters with Hampi as an historic place and living cultural landscape. A contemporarily designed rare artifact museum and a collection of documents on the history of the Vijayanagar empire adds a new-age shine to the place. In the backdrop of the rich greenery, with a stream of water flowing in utmost elegance at its centre , this oasis of art and knowledge in the heartland of Vijayanagar soothes the eyes and minds of weary travellers
