sothatthereisnostorageintheproductionarea.
•Withinthissystem,workstationslocatedalongproductionlinesonly
produce/deliverdesiredcomponentswhentheyreceiveacardandanempty
container,indicatingthatmorepartswillbeneededinproduction.

fillthecontainerandthenstop.
•Inaddition,Kanbanlimitstheamountofinventoryintheprocessbyactingasan
authorizationtoproducemoreinventory.SinceKanbanisachainprocessinwhich
ordersflowfromoneprocesstoanother,theproductionordeliveryofcomponentsare
pulledtotheproductionline.Incontrasttothetraditionalforecastorientedmethod
wherepartsarepushedtotheline.
