Introduction Fourth mineral drug of sadharana rasa. Identified as cowrie , cowry, marine shell. It is the common name for a group of small to large sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs Cypraea moneta in the family Cypraeidae . Cowrie often used to refer to the shell of these creatures. The shells of cowries are usually smooth, shiny, egg shaped with flat under under surface which shoe a long flat slit like opening which is often toothed at its edges. The narrow edge of cowrie shell is its anterior edge All nearly shell have porcelain like shine.
Historical review Its knowledge can be traced back since the period of charaka Samhitha . Since the drug is used in parada jarana it is included in Sadharana rasa. Etymology of kapardika found in Amarakosha . Occurance Found in sea mainly in India and Pacific ocean.

Introduction 6 th mineral of Sadharanarasa group Identified as Mercuric oxide HgO . A red to orange coloured dry mercuric powder obtained naturally on selected mountain peaks. Solid at room temperature and pressure. Preepare artificially by heating Mercury and Oxygen at roughly 350 degree Celsius or by pyrolysis of mercurric nitrate.
Occurrence It is found with in the stones on selected mountain peaks. It is dry red powder Artificial preparation is called Nagasindhura .
