The present continuous tense, also known
as the present progressive tense, is used
to describe actions that are currently
happening at the moment of speaking or
ongoing actions that are taking place
around the current time. It is formed
using the present tense of the verb "to
be" (am, is, are) followed by the present
participle (verb + -ing).

Structure
Afirmative Sentences
Subject + am/is/are + verb(-ing)
The ships are sailing.
He is smiling.

Negative Sentences:
Subject + am/is/are + not + verb(-ing)
The ships are not sailing.
He is not smiling.

Structure
Questions:
Am/Is/Are + subject + verb(-ing)?
Are the ships sailing?
Is he smiling?

Uses
Actions happening now:
Describes actions that are
occurring at the exact moment
of speaking.
She is brushing the bathroom floor.
