The Message of Christian Luis A. De Guzman for the Centenary of the Canonical Coronation of the Image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia
My dear friends and devotees of Our Lady of Peñafrancia
We are once again gathered to show our deep devotion and affection to our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Peñafrancia and
on this sacred occasion of the Centenary of the Canonical Coronation of the Image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, we come together under the guiding theme, "Se siempre la Reina, Pamanang Banal: Atamanon, Padanayon, Palakopon."
This theme resonates deeply within our hearts, reminding us of Our Lady's enduring reign as our Queen and the sacred heritage she has bestowed upon us.
"Se siempre la Reina,"—You shall always be our Queen. For a century, we are remembering the Canonical Coronation of our beloved Ina, who has reigned in our lives with love, compassion, and grace. Her guidance has been a beacon of hope, lighting our way through the trials and tribulations of life. As we honor this centennial, we reaffirm our commitment to her, vowing that she shall forever reign in our hearts and in our homes.
Inâ is Queen because she is Gran madre de Dios. As the Mother of the King of kings, she is a Queen Mother – a loving mother who counsels her son and pleads for her people. It is good to note that even before the Feast of the Queenship of Mary was instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1954, Bicolanos had already been singing “Se siempre la Reina de nuestra region”. Not vain pomp, pageantry, or glory, but her Queenship means service. It was because of the abundant wonders and graces she has poured into her devotees that she is the Queen of Bicol.
"Pamanang Banal,"—
From Estrofa II of the Himno, we sing “Reliquia bendita que el cielo nos dio”. Literally translated as “blessed relic that the heaven gave us”, its dynamic translation in Bicol is “Pamanang banal, balaog nin Dios”. The devotion to Inâ is a Pamanang Banal: a Divine Inheritance and a Gift of God shared and handed down to us by grateful generations before us.
The sacred heritage we have received is a gift to cherish and uphold. This centenary calls us to reflect on the spiritual treasures passed down through generations: the faith, values, and traditions that have shaped us as a people. Our devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia is a legacy that binds us together, strengthening our community and deepening our connection to God.
"Atamanon, Padanayon, Palakopon,"—
Now comes our collective responsibility to Nourish, Preserve, and Share our Divine Inheritance. We delve into the richness of the devotion by being transformed by it; we nurture and preserve this genuine devotion so that we can hand it down to the next generation in its best condition
As guardians of this sacred heritage, we are entrusted with the responsibility to care for our faith, ensuring it remains vibrant a
