About This Presentation

Eubacteria are the most commonly found organisms in the world. They are also known as true bacteria, and are present on almost all surfaces. They are prokaryotic cells, and hence do not have a nucleus. The eubacteria kingdom is one of the six kingdoms in which the entire living world is classified.

Kingdom Eubacteria DEE M. BARRETO – SST-1

What comes into your mind when you hear the word bacteria?

Eubacteria are the most commonly found organisms in the world. They are also known as true bacteria , and are present on almost all surfaces. They are prokaryotic cells, and hence do not have a nucleus. The eubacteria kingdom is one of the six kingdoms in which the entire living world is classified. https://biologywise.com/eubacteria-kingdom

Cell wall True bacteria Cannot survive in extreme environment Eubacteria Characteristics

Peptidoglycan - is responsible for the rigidity of bacteria Carbohydrate – they only on the extracellular side of cell wall Cell wall are made of:

Basic Bacterial Shapes

Cocci - Spherical shape bacterium Diplococcus - pair of cocci Streptococcus - rows or chain of cocci Staphylococcus - grapelike cluster of cocci

Bacilli - Rod shape bacterium Diplobacillus – pair of bacilli Streptobacillus – chain of bacilli

Spirillum - Rod shape and spherical shape bacterium

Common Diseases in Human caused by Bacteria

Propionibacterium acnes : A ubiquitous skin-dwelling organism that is involved in causing acne. Pimples are caused by oily substance called “sebum”

Mycobacterium tuberculosis: The bacterium that causes tuberculosis. M. tuberculosis has unusually waxy walls, is slow-growing and among the most recalcitrant bacteria to treatment.

Leptospira interrogans : is a pathogenic, spirochetal bacterium that is responsible for leptospirosis This bacteria are present in the urine and tissues of cattle pigs, horses, dogs, rats and wild animals • Larges number of Leptospira bacteria are in the urine of rats

Bacillus anthracis the organism that causes anthrax Anthrax is a “Disease affects animals like cows and carabaos and can be transmitted to humans”

Importance of Bacteria

Streptomycin is an antibiotic drug, first class drug, and was the first effective treatment for tuberculosis

E. Coli or Escherichia Coli naturally found in the large intestine of humans. These bacteria meanwhile provide the much needed vitamin B12

Lactobacillus bulgaricus & Streptobacillus thermophilus Theses are specially involved in making sour milk or Yogurt. Lactase in the bacteria changes the milk sugar into Lactic acid, which gives yogurt its semi-liquid texture.

With this information, we can say that the eubacteria kingdom is an important part of living organisms. Though there are some species that may cause harm to the human body, this bacteria phylum is definitely an important part of our ecosystem.
