Formula contains a single drug for Kalka. Milk is used as Drava Dravya. No Kwatha is mentioned. It is mentioned in Charaka Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, Bhavaprakash and Vangsena as Shata Paka – Sahasra Paka Bala Taila . The preparation contains a single drug for Kwatha and Kalka. Milk and decoction are added in equal amounts. If the processing is repeated 100 times then Shata Paka Ksheerbala Taila and 1000 times Sahasra Paka Ksheerabala Taila . Tila taila and Goksheera are taken in a required quantity with the help of a measuring flask. Required quantity of bala moola is taken in khalwayantra and is made into paste by pounding with milk.

15. Required quantity of taila is taken in a stainless steel vessel and and heated under mild flame. To this the kalka Dravya and drava Dravyas are added then the taila is boiled and stirred well continuously so that the kalka is not allowed to adhere to the vessel. When all drava dravyas are evaporated, the kalka is taken out from time to time to know the condition of paka . As soon as the all the “ Taila siddha lakshanas ” are attained ( i.e वर्तिवत् स्नेहकल्क, यदांगुल्या विमर्दित, फेनोद्गमन ) the hot taila is allowed to cool. 16. PRECAUTIONS Mandagni should be maintained. Boiling has to be continued until Taila siddha lakshana are attained. Continous stirring has to be done so that the kalka Dravya does not stick to the bottom of the vessel. OBSERVATIONS The colour of the taila turns brown in colour . 21. MODE OF ACTION: BALA MOOLA TILA TAILA GOKSHEERA Bala possess Madhura Rasa and Vipaka . Madhura Rasa mitigates both Vata and Pitta Dosha. It is Dhatunaamprabalam (strength to the tissue) and is good for sense organs and pleasing to mind ( Shadindriyaprasadaka ). Bala contains chemical components in small quantities of both ephedrine and pseudoephidrine . Ephedrine is known to stimulate the central nervous system (CNS). Tila Taila is Madhura Rasa and Vipaka , Balya and Rasayana in Karma.It nourishes and strengthens all Dhatu, checks Dhatukshaya and thus alleviates Vata . Snigdha and Guru Guna decreases Rukshata of Vata and with the help of Ushna Guna and Veerya it alleviates Vata Snigdha and Guru Guna decreases Rukshata of Vata . Goksheera is having madhura rasa, sheetavirya , mridu , snigdha , bahala , shlakshana , guru, manda and prasanna qualities. These ten qualities are similar to that of the ojas . 22. CONTD…. TILA TAILA Tila taila contains Alkaloid, Saponin, Flavonoid, Tannin, Phenols and Minerals. Terpenoid presence gives antibacterial and anti-diabetic properties. 34. CONCLUSION Ksheerabala Taila is being utilized as a Rasayana drug in conventional Ayurveda treatment for epilepsy. The continuous administration of this formulation prevents the release of abrupt electric discharges and improves the physical and mental condition of the patient.
