It is the beautiful expression of man‘s personal interpretations of some aspect of human life, or a wording out in a unique, beautiful, and personal manner of saying what an author thinks is a passionate meaning of life. This is saying that literature not only becomes but is “life itself.” -Amador Daguio

7. Highlights of 21 st Century L iterature

8. The range of years in 21 st century literature was written from the year 2001 to the present.

9. The 2000s (decade) saw a sudden increase in the acceptability of all types, inspired by the coming-of-age of millions of people who enjoyed the works of writers such as J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien in their youths.

10. Many famous book series like Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia were converted into movies.

11. Some books were written in simple English and works of old writers were translated into language that was easier to understand. That’s why some young people don’t like to read old English version.

12. Mythology was converted into graphic novel form to build interest among young readers.

13. Books on wars, guides for exams, myths, etc. were frequent sellers in this decade.

14. 21 st Century Literature is full of imaginative writing. Wherein, most of the themes deal with current themes or situations and reflect technological culture.

15. It also often breaks traditional writing or is fragmented because in the old century literature, it follows the traditional plot ( beginning-middle-end).

16. We study different rhythmic patterns even writing poems should be rhymed. (The sonnets of William Shakespeare and other Italian sonnets they are all patterned).

17. 21 st century is written by contemporary authors, we will discover new Homer, new Shakespeare or new Edgar Allan Poe.

18. This period is the emerging of different genres like: - IM (instant messaging) - digi fiction - manga - blog format - doodle - graphic novels

19. Remember: Literature is part of the human experience, by reading literature you become empowered, morally upright and well-informed citizens of the world.
