asking yourself, "Why is the writer telling me about this?" or "What does the writer want me to know or do after reading this?"

To Persuade

To persuade is the first main type of author's purpose. Text written to persuade means the author's goal is to convince the reader to agree with the author. This might mean the author wants the reader to think or even act in a specific way.

they want to convince the reader to agree with an opinion, to inspire readers to take action, or to reaffirm a reader's existing beliefs.

Example: He persuaded his friend to go back to school. He would not let himself be persuaded into buying the more expensive stereo.

Form a group of three and do the following around the school campus. Record a video to show how were you able to use your persuasive skills to accomplish the following tasks.

Convince three person to sing “ happy birthday” to the tune of “Row, Row, Row your boat.” Convince three persons to do five jumping jacks and shout, “Arriba!” Persuade a student to take a “ groufie ” with all of the members of your group.
