The LVTS is a requirement
considering the
degradation of mountain
soil. The lack of alert
systems and the snail-pace
to dig out survivors has
solidified landslides as
one of the least
survivable natural
disasters. We hope that
our device helps both the
victims and the rescuers.
The potential here is very
high and if brought to
existence will be life
saving.

The LVTS is basically a
system designed to
increase the survival rate
of landslide victims. The
system has the ability to
sense the conditions,
verify it and alert
officials.
As a cherry on the top,
the LVTS has the ability
to send distress signals
to be detected by rescue
workers.

THE COMPONENTS
USED ARE…..

ESP32:
IT CONTROLS THE FUNCTIONALITIES OF VARIOUS PERIPHERALS
CONNECTED TO IT AND IS “HEART” OF THIS DEVICE.
DHT11
THE DHT22 IS A HYGROMETER WHICH SENSES THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY
OF THE ATMOSPHERE.
MPU6050:
THIS IS THE ACCELEROMETER WHICH IS CAPABLE OF DETECTING THE
SEISMIC MOVEMENTS OF THE GROUND.

STRUCTURE:
A STRONG CASING MADE OF STEEL WHICH CONTAINS AN INNER LINING
OF SILICA INSULATION SHEETS.
LoRa Module:
THIS MODULE HELPS IN FAST AND LONG-DISTANCE COMMUNICATION. IT
ALSO HAS THE ABILITY TO FORM NETWORKS AND INTERCOMMUNICATE.
RF Transmitter Receiver Module:
THIS MODULE HELPS IN SHORT-DISTANCE COMMUNICATION. IT HAS A
FREQUENCY OF 433 MHz.

WORKING:
Here is the working of the system in a nutshell:
•It can be kept inside homes of regions susceptible of
landslide.
•The device is dormant in its normal mode.
•It uses minimum energy in this stage, with only the
hygrometer working
•Once the hygrometer detects a above normal humidity, the
accelerometer is activated.

WORKING:
•If the accelerometer detects any abnormalities, it contacts
nearby devices to confirm.
•Upon immediate confirmation, it alerts residents as well as
police and disaster relief officials
•The device then starts to generate distress signals.
•The device turns OFF the supply to all sensors and focuses
its battery supply to only generate distress signal.

OUR PROGRESS…
•Completed ideation process.
•Redesigned our system after feedback process.
•Instead of LoRa communication we are using a server-client
communication using ESPs to simulate the working.
•Although rudimentary, this demo gives us an insight on the
working, the challenges and further improvements required.
•We also took part at HERTZ25 Hackathon at CUSAT bagging

rd
prize for the innovative efforts and original
conceptualisation.

NEXT STEPS…
•The next step is to implement the system on a PCB.
•Ensure foolproof LoRa communication.
•Improving the code and fixing bugs.
•Buy more sensitive sensors like DHT22 and ADXL335 etc.
•Create a LoRa based network and implement steps for
intercommunication.
