Leaf insect
 Phyllium, or just called ‘Leaf Insect’ is an insect in the order of stick insects (phasmida) that
looks like a leaf.
 In nature it can be found in tropical forest.
 There are over 50 species of leaf bug, also known as a walking leaf.
 It has six legs and a hard outer shell.
 Leaf bugs are usually one to four inches in length.

 They have flattened leaf-shaped bodies and sometimes legs to match.
 To add to the uncanny similarities, they even have veins like true leaves.
 These camouflage experts even have coloration that helps them blend in with their exact
surroundings. For example, some leaf bugs are bright green in color, and they live in green leafy
trees. Others are brown and spotted, like leaves that have fallen from the tree and are
decomposing.
 The leaf bug is a herbivore, eating only other plants. Leaves even give many of these bugs their
coloring.
 Young leaf bugs, known as nymphs. It is when they climb trees and begin eating leaves that they
turn green.
