The FOUR SEASONS This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC

why do we have four seasons?   • During this year, the seasons change depending on the amount of sunlight reaching the surface and the earth’s tilt as it moves around the sun . • In the summer, the earth is tilted closer to the sun so it is hotter. • In the winter, the earth is tilted farther  away from the sun so it is much colder

FALL During the fall, leaves turn red, orange, yellow, and brown and fall off the trees • Autumn is another name for fal l. • The days get short and the weather gets cooler • People usually wear pants and a sweatshirt, as it gets closer to winter they get ready to wear their heavy jackets • Fun things to do in the fall: • Rake leaves and jump in the piles • Watch football Halloween & Thanksgiving • Pick apples and pumpkins

WINTER • Very cold temperatures • There can be snow or ice • Days are shorts and nights are long • The trees have no leaves on their branches • Some animals go into hibernation • Clothing for the winter • Heavy coat, scarf, hat, gloves, snow boots, and snowsuits • Fun activities/events in the winter • Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, Valentine day • Ice skating, skiing, sledding • Build a snowman

SPRING •   The days begin to get longer • The weather gets warmer • Tiny green buds begin to form on tree branches and flowers begin to bloom • The grass starts to get greener • Animals come out of hibernation • Fun things to do in the spring: • Earth Day •Pick the blossoming flowers • Riding bikes
