First things first … 1 Add learning to Learnsmarter
Two types: SCORM and AICC 1 Both are types of eLearning 2 SCORM is a newer format than AICC
SCORM and AICC SCORM is a bit like a book with chapters
SCORM and AICC AICC Courses are a bit like chapters
SCORM and AICC You need to load each chapter and then bind them into a book
Both SCORM e-learning and AICC files need to be in a .zip format to be uploaded into Learnsmarter and BOTH TYPES are uploaded using the Learnsmarter SCORM Course tab. Uploading SCORM and AICC files
The first step in creating your SCORM courses with either SCORM e-learning or AICC files is to upload the .zip file into SCORM Courses. Go to the SCORM Courses Tab. Click ‘New’ Uploading SCORM and AICC Files
Select your .ZIP file and Import. The name of the SCORM course is taken from within the .Zip file This will upload and you will see a success message when uploaded. Click Finish
When the SCORM course is saved, you will find yourself in the settings.
There are two settings that you must set. SCO Launch Type = Frameset Player Launch Type = Frameset
You may use the Preview tab in the SCORM Course to view your upload and how it will present to the User. Any additional changes that you may make in the config can be previewed here.
A Learning Item is a structured piece of learning that is performed by a Learner at their own pace. NHSP Will be creating SCORM Learning Items for the interim Solution An Assessment Content (such as a PDF) Custom (Information on another object such as Knowledge) A Quiz Rich Text SCORM A Video Standard (Trailhead) External Exam Learning Item
How will NHSP Use Learning Items? If a SCORM course was created from SCORM e-learning .zip files then NHSP will create a single Learning Item to share the SCORM course. If the SCORM Course was created from AICC files, multiple Learning Items will need to be created and grouped together into a Program. This will allow all of the AICC SCORM Courses to be brought together as an individual piece of Learning.
Create a SCORM Learning Item N avigate to 'Learning Items' tab, click 'New' and select 'SCORM’, click Next.
Complete the Learning Item fields including the Learning Item Name, description, Award etc. Use the SCORM Course lookup to select the SCORM Course. IMPORTANT! You must set your enrolment to ‘Multiple Times’ and select ‘High Volume’. Publish and make your Learning Item Current.
When complete, a Learning Item should look like this. You have just created a Learning item and a Learning Item Version.
Training content can change over time, whether that's simply because the material being taught has evolved, or because of legislative changes. It may not be enough to know that every person has completed fire training. You might instead need to know who hasn't yet completed the 2024 fire training course and this is where versioning comes into play. The Learning Item is the fixed information – such as the name, the award and an overall description. The Learning Item Version contains the actual learning, enrollment settings, CEU Scores and more – Essentially the information that can change over time. Learning Item vs Learning Item Version
To create a Program in Learnsmarter, go to the Program tab and click ‘New’. Programs
Complete the Program Fields including the Program Name, description, Award etc. Then Save.
The second step in creating a Program is to add the elements. In this case the elements will be the SCORM Learning items that you created earlier.
Search for the SCORM Learning Items that you want to add to your Program. You can search for them by name. Only Published and Current Learning Items will appear. You can add multiple at a time.
The individual Learning Items that you have added will then become the Program Elements.
Sort Order and Sequencing: If your users need to view the Learning Items in a sequenced format, you can adjust the sort order and make them sequenced.
When all your Program Elements have been added, ordered and sequenced as required, you need to ‘Publish’ your Program and make it ‘Current’. This makes your Program available for Program Enrolments.
This works in the same manner as Learning Items/Versions. You have created a Program and a version of that Program. In future, if the Program changes with time, you can create a new version. Program vs Program Version
SCORM Course Create a new SCORM Course by uploading a new .ZIP file Learning Item It is possible to create a new version from scratch or use the Clone button to clone the existing version and then make changes Program It is possible to create a new version from scratch or use the Clone button to clone the existing version. There are options on cloning the elements within the current version too. You can then make the required changes. What happens when a new version is required?
