Micriobiological surveilace and its role in infection control Microbiologial surveilance is an effective tool for identifying and controlling infections by providing data regarding types and counts of microbial flora. Micrbiological surveilance is an essential component of infection prevention and control. High quality information on infecious diseases, healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistant oragnisms are necessary to monitor progress, investigate underlying causes and to apply prevention and control measures.

3. Surveilance sampling Surveilance sampling has been to collect a relatively small number of samples of many different commodities over many years. Surveilace in the public health context, is the ongoing , systematic collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of data regarding a health related event for use in a public health action to reduce morbidity and mortality and to imrove health.

4. Liquid media liquid media is easiest to prepare and use. Good for growing quantities of microbes needed for analysis or experiments. Unless inoculated with pure culture, cannot separate different organisms.
