Audit Vault Server on Linux
•At least 1,024 MB of available physical RAM
•Swap space as described below:
Available RAM Required Swap Space
Between 1,024 MB and 2,048 MB1.5 times the size of RAM
Between 2,049 MB and 8,192 MBEqual to the size of RAM
More than 8,192 MB 0.75 times the size of RAM

–2.6 GB of disk space for the Oracle Audit Vault Server

(platform dependent):
–500 MB of disk space for Linux x86
–Up to 1.5 GB on AIX

types of Audit Vault Server installations:
•Basic: Uses standard configuration options and requires
minimal input
–Audit Vault system identifier (SID)
–Audit Vault Server Home location
–Audit Vault Administrator and Auditor names and passwords
•Advanced: Offers additional options for installation
–Database Vault usernames and passwords
–Database storage information
–Backup and recovery options

Installing Audit Vault in an Oracle RAC
Configuration: Overview
•Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
•Install Audit Vault by using Advanced Installation mode:
–The Audit Vault name is used to derive the Oracle RAC
database SID of each Oracle RAC node.
–Specify the nodes on which to install Audit Vault.

Audit Vault Server Installation
Provide the following information during installation:
•Audit Vault Name: Unique SID for the Audit Vault Server
database instance

•Audit Vault Administrator username and password:
–Administers, configures, and manages Audit Vault
–Granted the AV_ADMIN role
•Audit Vault Auditor username and password (optional,
but recommended):
–Accesses Audit Vault reporting and analysis services
–Granted the AV_AUDITOR role

Performing the Audit Vault Server
10.2.3.2 Patch Set Upgrade
•Install the Audit Vault Server 10.2.3.2 patch set directly on
a 10.2.3 installation, bypassing the 10.2.3.1 patch set.
•Perform the Audit Vault Server patch set upgrade prior to
performing the Audit Vault Collection Agent patch set
upgrade.

Audit Vault Server Patch Set Upgrade
Preinstallation Steps
1.If you are using Oracle RAC, ensure that Oracle
Clusterware is Release 10.2.0.4 or later.
2.Back up the Oracle Audit Vault database and the Oracle
Audit Vault Server home directory.
3.Stop the following Audit Vault Server components:
collectors, agents, and Audit Vault Console
4.Shut down the Audit Vault Server database instance.
5.Stop the listener.
6.If you are using Oracle RAC, manually disable Database
Vault on Oracle RAC instances.
7.Unset the NLS_LANG and ORACLE_HOME environment
variables.

Installing the Oracle Audit Vault Server Patch Set
1.Download the Oracle Audit Vault Patch Set 2 from My
Oracle Support.
2.Invoke the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) from the patch
set directory.
3.Respond to OUI prompts as necessary.
4.After the installation completes:
a.Verify that the Audit Vault database instance and the
listener are started.
b.Ensure that Enterprise Manager Database Control is
started.
c.Ensure that the Audit Vault Console is started:
avctl show_av_status
d.If necessary, restart the Audit Vault Server Console:
avctl start_av

Managing the Audit Vault Console
Use the following AVCTL commands to manage the
Audit Vault Console:
Description Command
Shut down the Audit Vault Console. avctl stop_av
Start the Audit Vault Console. avctl start_av
View the status of the Audit Vault Console.avctl show_av_status
