Why is On the Job Training / Praticum important in College? 14

Opportunities to become familiar with the work place; 15 For employment simulation; and To apply their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in authentic work environment

OBJECTIVES Appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories learned in school; Enhance their technical knowledge and skills Enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and Develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work. 17

DEFINITION OF TERMS 18

Partner Institutions Public or private institutions or organizations that are able and willing to lend their expertise and resources . 19

Memorandum of Agreement legally binding document, which spells out the specific terms and conditions between and among parties entering into a partnership to implement a program, project, or any other similar undertaking. 20

Partnership Refers to the relationship between the partner institution and the school , or any office of CHED (Central Regional or Division) that responds to the needs of a college program in general, which is formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement. 21

OJT/Practicum Partner Institution Supervisor The counterpart of the Work Immersion Teacher may also be the representative of the partner institution in forging partnership with CHED college/university. This person shall be identified in the MOA. 22

Practicum Adviser The school personnel who is assigned to supervise the learners at the Practicum Venue in coordination with the Work OJT/Practicum Partner Institution Supervisor. 23

Practicum Venue The place where OJT/Practicum is conducted . It shall conform with the law and the rules and regulations on safety, appropriateness for learning, and availability of facilities and equipment, which are issued by relevant government agencies. 24

Self-confidence Be confident that you are the right person for the role. The best way to feel confident about this is by doing research on the company and the job you are applying to. 26

Positive attitude Always show your positive attitude not only towards the role and company but also towards life in general. 27

Communication The ability to read, write and speak is essential to get a new job, but when trying to get a promotion, the ability to communicate is in many cases considered more significant than ambition, education or capacity for hard work. 28

Team player People who go beyond working in their area of expertise, demonstrate big picture thinking, take leadership roles when necessary and work for the greater good are considered a great asset to any organization. 29

Problem solving The ability to think critically and be a resourceful person is also highly valued by employers. This doesn’t mean that you need to have the right answer to every question. 30

Time management Time management is an art form in and of itself that you can improve with practice and experience. 31

Coping with pressure Generally, the higher you get in your career, the more pressure and stress you have to deal with. That is why it is so important to learn how to cope with it. 32

Flexibility Organization and flexibility are becoming increasingly important as the demand for flexible working arrangements continues to rise. 33

Accept feedback Although it may be difficult at the beginning, you should never take any form of criticism personally. 34

Strong work ethic According to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management, companies are finding it harder to find punctual, reliable workers today than years ago. 35
