1. Sender The party that starts the communication process. The sender is the person who conveys the idea or seeks information. He/She may be a speaker, writer, or just someone who shows gestures.
Examples: A mother scolding her son Neighbor calling the fire department Delivery man pressing a house’s doorbell A concerned citizen asking for fair taxes. A politician delivering his campaign speech.
2. Message The information/idea conveyed by the sender. The message may be views or opinions, feelings, orders, suggestions, or questions.
Examples: A concerned citizen asking for fair taxes . A politician delivering his campaign speech . A mother telling her son to stop playing mobile games .
3. Channel The medium or manner used by the sender to convey his/her message.
Examples: Raymund talking with his friend via telephone . Manager sending memos to employees through email . Teacher Anna delivering her lecture through Zoom.
4. Receiver The party that receives the message. The receiver sees, reads, hears, or feels the message conveyed to him.
Examples: A mother scolding her son Neighbor calling the fire department. A politician delivering his campaign speech to the residents of Brgy . Maraburab . Manager sending memos to employees through email.
5. Feedback The response or reaction of the receiver to the sender’s message. It ensures the effectiveness of the message. It tells whether the receiver has received the message and understood the sender’s meaning.
Examples: After being scolded by his mother, Nielsen turns off his phone and puts it inside his drawer. Yhasmine says “yes” to James Carlo’s marriage proposal. Students wrote their answers after the teacher’s question.
