FLORA FAUNA

Flora is the plant life in an ecosystem. Flora is the foundation for all other life in an area. They make their own food from sunlight and provide energy for the rest of the ecosystem WHAT IS FLORA?

No animals would be able to exist without flora. This is so true in fact, that flora thrive in even the most harsh environments in the world Let's take a look at some examples

Cactus plants are naturally seen in deserts. They have adaptations like modified leaves or prickles to preserve water and protect themselves from predators. CACTUS

The redwood trees are some of the tallest and oldest trees on the planet, and the forest they make up provides homes to a variety of different mammals and insects GIANT REDWOOD

The plant is native to the Namid desert, within Angola and Namibia on the southwestern coast of Africa. The plant is characterized by two large leaves which make it resemble a dry or wilted plant, and it, in fact, thrives in dry conditions. WELWITSCHIA MIRABILIS

WHAT IS FAUNA? Fauna represents the animal life. Fauna on the other hand, is the name given to collective animal life that lives or was once found in a certain area or time period enous to a region.

Animal kingdom comprises a variety of animal life forms. Hence, the classification of fauna is much more complex than the floral division. Therefore, for ease of classification; Birds , Fishes, Microorganisms, and alll unknown and undiscovered animals are named as cryptofauna.

African elephants are the largest animals walking the Earth. Their herds wander through 37 countries in Africa. They are easily recognized by their trunk that is used for communication and handling objects. And their large ears allow them to radiate excess heat. Upper incisor teeth develop into tusks in African elephants and grow throughout their lifetime. THE AFRICAN ELEPHANT

This animal species features an olive to dark brown body and wrapped with many small warts over it. The Southern Toadlet thrives in damp habitats such as drainage lines, woodlands, scrubland, dry forests, and grassland. SOUTHERN TOADLET
