ABSTRACTION What is a learner? - an individual who aspires to receive knowledge, skills, and values in life - is the center of learning or the recipient of learning. What are the domains of learning 1. cognitive – mental development of the learner by remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating. 2. psychomotor – motor development of the learner – such as: coordination of motor skills or the physical movement by perceiving, sitting, responding as a guide, acting, responding overtly, adapting and organizing.
3. affective - involves feelings, emotions, and attitudes through receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and internalizing. S tudent-centered Educational philosophy Progressivism – a philosophy rooted on optimism and problem solving - John Jacques Rousseau – believes that people are basically good, and the society can be accountable for corrupting them. - John Dewey – believes that problem-solving and social interaction can be the source of learning . - Progressivist educators 1. do not give inputs to students but focused on the outcomes.
