BEHAVIORISM Behaviorism focuses on the idea that all behaviors are learned through interaction with the environment. This learning theory states that behaviors are learned from the environment, and says that innate or inherited factors have very little influence on behavior.

COGNITIVISM Cognitivism is a learning theory that focusses on how information is received, organized, stored and retrieved by the mind. It uses the mind as an information processer, like a computer. Therefore, cognitivism looks beyond observable behavior , viewing learning as internal mental processes. Cognitivism is used in education  to learn new skills and strategies by making meaningful connections in the brain . Cognitivism in the education field is the basis for learning because it is constructive , meaning that it builds upon the knowledge that students may already have in their brains .

INDIRECT INSTRUCTION Indirect instruction is a student-centered approach to learning where students observe, investigate and draw inferences from data. In this instructional model, professors take on the role of a facilitator or supporter as opposed to offering direct instruction.

INTERACTIVE INSTRUCTION Interactive instruction refers to educational instruction that utilizes a hands-on approach in an attempt to help students understand the subject matter. Interactive instruction can happen at any level and with any type of subject matter. Often, people think interactive education involves technology.

EXPERIENTIAL INSTRUCTION Experiential learning is considered to be a progressive method of instruction that affords students an opportunity to generate a deeper understanding of lecture topics by working on course-related issues that, when resolved, benefit their local communities (Williams, 2016)

INDEPENDENT STUDY Independent learning is a self-guided process wherein the learning works to expand their knowledge and skills. The goal of independent learning is to shift the learning process to the student, making them an active participant with the teacher providing guidance and structure.
