3 parts- 13 minutes

SPM Speaking Test Format Individual everyday questions (candidates at ease) Part 1 Controlled, short individual responses Part 2 Individual long turn with a listening candidate response question Part 3 Discussion task followed by decision question and then further discussion task Speaking individually A paired interactive discussion activity The level of interlocutor’s involvement lessens. And the candidates have more scope to improvise as the test progresses . The test has been designed to cover both the productive and interactive aspects of the CEFR.

Part 1- interview (3-4 mins) Warm up session Eg : Where do you live? How do you come to school? How do you spend your leisure time? What do you do after school? Answer in SENTENCES!!

Part 2 : individual long turn task An individual long turn (1 minute) Followed by a response (20 seconds) from the listening candidate to a question linked to the theme

A person you admire Talk about a person you admire You should say : who this person is what this person looks like why you admire this person If you think it is important for people to have good role models (Why / Why not) Listening candidate question Who do you admire? Why? A family celebration Talk about a family celebration you had recently You should say : what the event was what you did there did you enjoy yourself (why / why not) why family celebrations are important in Malaysia Listening candidate question What was the last celebration you had? PART 2: SAMPLE TASK

Making a decision So, we both agree that…. Hence, we come to a conclusion that… You don’t have to talk about all 6 points! Minimum 2 will do! But don’t forget your decision *You will not be given any time to prepare!
