3. Convex Mirror Convex Mirror is a curved mirror where the reflective surface bulges out toward the light source. This bulging-out surface reflects light outwards and is not used to focus light. These mirrors form a virtual image as the focal point (F), and the center of curvature (2F) are imaginary points in the mirror that cannot be reached. This results in the formation of images that cannot be projected on a screen as the image is inside the mirror. The image looks smaller than the object from a distance but gets larger as the object gets closer to the mirror. ❸

6. Uses of a Concave Mirror : ❻ Concave mirrors reflect light from the dented inwards reflecting surface. As a result, they’re frequently used to focus light. A concave mirror will produce several image types depending on the distance between the mirror and the object. Vehicle Headlights, Sidelights, Torchlights:- Concave mirrors are used in headlights, torchlights and sidelights Purpose -the bulb of a headlight or a torch is placed at the focus of a concave mirror. The light rays coming form the bulb, emerge out as parallel rays after getting reflected at the concave mirror. Benefits - to produce a parallel beam of light covering a longer distance

Uses of Concave Mirror: ❼ Dental Mirrors Concave Mirrors are used in dental mirrors Purpose- to provide a perfect view for oral cavity for better diagnosis Benefit- the concave mirrors allow dentists to magnify and thus more precisely observe the interior of the oral cavity. Solar Furnaces Concave Mirrors are used in Solar Furnaces Purpose - Sunlight can be absorbed by concave mirrors and focused at the focal point. the solar furnace generates heat from the absorbed light Benefit- can be used for the applications including cooking, electricity and heating.

8. The term diverging mirror is based on its behavior of making rays diverge upon reflection. The convex mirror always forms a virtual image of the object, and the image formed by the convex mirror is smaller than the size of the actual object. Therefore, the most common convex mirror used are in place where bigger objects are to be viewed in a smaller size. Vehicle Side-view Mirrors: Convex mirrors are widely used as side –view mirrors in vehicles. Purpose: To provide a wider field of view ,reducing blind spots and enhancing driver safety . Benefit: Drivers can see more of the area behind and to the side of the vehicle , which is crucial for safe lane changes and reversing Uses of a Convex Mirror : ❽

Purpose: To help drivers navigate tight spaces and to avoid collisions . Benefit: Make parking easier and safer by providing better view of surroundings. Safety and surveillance: Convex mirrors are commonly installed in stores, shopping malls, and warehouses. Purpose: To monitor large areas for security purposes.
